Interactive Map Editor Tools
The Layerpin editor features 11 dedicated drawing and annotation tools. Explore the tool palette below, with detailed guides for selection, boundary polygons, marker pins, measurement scales, and freehand drawing.
Tool Palette Overview
Place interactive pins, custom icons, or numbered points of interest at exact image coordinates.
- Click anywhere on the map image canvas to drop a marker at precise coordinates.
- Select from 100+ icons, custom colors, pin shapes, pulse animations, and labels.
- Click 'Set as Default Style' to automatically apply your styling to all future markers.
- Attach media galleries, structured fields, and external action links.
The primary interaction tool for clicking items, dragging positions, multi-selecting, and resizing shapes.
- Click any marker or shape to open its Content, Style, and Info Card tabs.
- Hold Shift and drag an area on the canvas to box-zoom directly into that region.
- Use Quick Search and Category Filters in the Build panel to find items instantly.
- Multi-select items with Shift + Click or checkboxes for batch updates, duplication, and layer reordering.
Draw custom multi-point boundary zones, regular polygons, or starbursts around rooms and areas.
- Click sequentially to place vertices. Click the initial vertex to close the boundary.
- Choose between Freeform, Regular Polygon (3–12 sides), Star, and Rounded Star modes.
- In Select mode, drag vertex handles to reshape corners, or click midpoints to add vertices.
- Set fill colors, gradients, opacity, and save as default shape style for new polygons.
Quickly box off architectural sections, tables, parking spaces, or grid units with drag-to-size.
- Click and drag diagonally across the canvas to define width and height.
- Hold Shift while dragging to constrain the shape to a perfect 1:1 square.
- Adjust the corner roundness slider in the Style tab for soft pill-shaped boundaries.
- Supports solid colors, semi-transparent fills, image textures, and hover highlights.
Create radial coverage zones, circular pavilions, or hotspot radii centered on a focal point.
- Click to set the center point, then drag outward to define the radius.
- Ideal for wireless coverage zones, delivery perimeters, and circular amphitheaters.
- Drag perimeter handles to dynamically resize radius in fractional canvas coordinates.
- Combine semi-transparent fills with dashed borders for clean radar-like diagrams.
Draw multi-segment pathways, directional arrows, orthogonal elbow connectors, and curved lines.
- Choose between 6 line modes: Straight Line, Arrow, Orthogonal Elbow, Curved, Polyline, and Scribble.
- Configure start and end caps: Arrowheads, dots, squares, diamonds, or standard flush lines.
- Adjust stroke width, dashed or dotted line patterns, and bend radius handles.
- Elbow connectors automatically maintain clean 90-degree right angles between points.
Freehand drawing tool for organic boundaries, hand-drawn annotations, or casual sketches.
- Click and drag naturally across the canvas to paint freehand paths.
- Built-in Catmull-Rom spline smoothing eliminates trackpad and mouse vertex jitter.
- Adjust stroke thickness, opacity, and neon glow accents in the toolbar.
- Perfect for circling areas of interest or drawing custom trail routes.
Place floating typography labels, section names, floor numbers, or rich text cards.
- Click anywhere on the map canvas to place a typography anchor.
- Choose from Text Label, Boxed Text Card (with background & border), or Callout Badge.
- Pick fonts from the catalog (Inter, Outfit, Roboto, etc.) with custom sizes and weights.
- Toggle word-wrap, auto-expand sizing, and zoom-dependent text visibility.
Numbered or lettered indicator badge with an adjustable leader line pointing to intricate details.
- Place the badge, then drag the leader arrow tip directly onto the component or machine part.
- The leader line dynamically recalculates angle and length as you reposition the badge.
- Numbered sequence badges are ideal for step-by-step schematics and exploded diagrams.
- Attach info cards, media galleries, and links to each callout badge.
Interactive measuring tape that computes real-world distances and enclosed surface areas.
- Calibrate map scale by setting a known reference distance (e.g., standard doorway = 1m).
- Switch between metric (m, km) and imperial units (ft, mi) on the fly.
- Supports straight distance lines or multi-point enclosed area measurement polygons.
- Configure extension lines, endpoint ticks, and precision decimal places.
Quick click-to-delete tool for rapidly removing unwanted strokes, shapes, or markers.
- Click directly on any element or freehand stroke to delete it without opening panels.
- Click and drag across multiple items to erase them in rapid succession.
- Press Cmd/Ctrl + Z anytime to immediately undo an accidental deletion.
- Does not delete locked items, protecting your base map elements from accidental removal.
